KDBS started in a small Woodstock studio in 2019 with a single sewing machine, three bolts of European flax linen, and a stubborn belief: that a shirt you'll wear for a decade beats ten shirts you'll wear for a season.
Today we're a team of eight — cutters, stitchers, dyers and one very opinionated pattern-maker — turning out small runs of linen shirts, overshirts and easy trousers from our workshop off Albert Road. Every garment is cut, sewn, pressed and inspected under one roof. No middlemen. No mystery factories.
What we make
- Signature linen shirts in classic and relaxed fits, from 185gsm European flax
- Indigo overshirts hand-dyed in small batches with plant-based indigo
- Easy trousers and shorts cut for the Cape summer
- Limited seasonal drops — usually 40 to 120 pieces, never restocked in the same colourway
How we make it
We buy flax linen milled in Belgium and Lithuania — the same cloth used by heritage European houses — because it softens beautifully, breathes in 35°C heat, and lasts. Our indigo dye is fermented in-house from natural indigo powder and lime. Offcuts become patch pockets, scrunchies, and dog bandanas for the Woodstock SPCA. Nothing that can be reused hits landfill.

Our promise
If a seam gives way, a button pops, or the fabric fails within two years of purchase, we repair it free. Bring it in, post it back, or drop it at any Pargo point. If we can't repair it, we replace it. That's the KDBS guarantee.

Our workshop is open to the public Thursdays and Saturdays, 10:00–14:00. Come try things on, watch the indigo vats bubble, and meet the team. Coffee's on us.
